Upgrading a database can sound hard and risky. When you move your database from an older version like Oracle 19c to a newer version like Oracle 26ai, many things inside the system change.
To help with this, Oracle gives us a free online tool called ORAdiff (Oracle Release Analyzer Diff Utility ).
This tool helps DBA compare two Oracle versions before doing an upgrade. Here is how it works and why it helps you.
Main Features:
Check Database Settings (Parameters): See which settings are new, changed, or gone.

Decrepted parameters

Obsolete parameters

Moving to Oracle 26ai brings many exciting new features, but ensuring a clean and consistent setup is essential. ORADiff helps identify and clearly visualize the differences, making database upgrades smoother and reducing the risk of unexpected issues.
I’m hoping ORADiff could provide an Ansible API in the future, which would make it even more valuable by allowing us to integrate it into our automation workflows for patching and migration tasks.
